Tips And Suggestions On How To Choose The Best Girls Camp For Summer

When school lets out at the beginning of summer, at first there is this total feeling of freedom, liberty, and relaxation for the kids, since they’ve worked so hard all year. But almost immediately boredom sets in, unless you have some activities planned to keep your kids occupied. But even then, that can become a burden for the parents as most have jobs and most parents weren’t born to be activity planners. That’s when you’ll want to take a look at some of the different camps that are offered in your local area.

There Are Day Camps And Overnight Camps, You Can Mix And Match

A day camp can be as simple as a basketball skills, volleyball skills or even art camp, where you drop your kids off in the morning and they stay and are cared for all day long, then you pick them up in the evening. These are great because the parents don’t have to miss work, the camps aren’t all that expensive, and the kids can get a great education in many different types of sports, arts, sciences, and other activities.

For instance, a girls camp that teaches a different activity, such as ping pong, diving, or even cooking, can start an interest in something that a parent wouldn’t normally spend time teaching, or wouldn’t have the equipment to do so. Not everyone has a ping pong table, and you wouldn’t necessarily want to buy one until you found your child had an interest.

Music camps are another great opportunity to teach your children something that is lacking in many of our schools today. Music can be quite fun, especially if you can find a good teacher. One of the best sources to look will be the local middle or high school, and you can check with the band teacher, choir teacher or even the administration office to see what’s available locally. You never know, you might have a musician in the family and not know it.

Week Long Overnight Camps Are A Great Learning Experience, But….

Cutting loose with your daughter for a week at a girls camp can be very stressful and there are a lot of questions you’ll want to ask in advance. First, since this is your child, you’ll need to make sure that every counselor has had a proper background check and all of the management too.

You can also go online and do a search for customer reviews to read what other parents thought of the camp in previous years. Those reviews will bring up plenty of good questions that you wouldn’t have thought of and that’s why they’re so valuable. Maybe a certain camp was absolutely fantastic, but you really need to bring quality hiking boots or you’ll end up with blisters on your feet. A small detail such as that, could make or break the experience for a young child.

Check with your friends, family, and neighbors to see where they’re sending their kids for the summer. If you can get a few friends from school or the neighborhood attending the same camp, it will go a long ways towards making all the kids more comfortable and add to their memories that they can tell their kids when they become parents later in life.…
